The Revd Alice has been our Rector for the last nine and a half years. During that time, she has always supported our church community in Hethe and our endeavours to save St Edmund & St George Church. On behalf of fellow villagers, thank you Alice for conducting countless baptisms, marriages and funerals for villagers during this time. Although she has been Rector for nine other local churches, Alice has always been available to help Hethe’s church council, has attended all of their meetings and provided much needed guidance and assistance.
Flora, Sandra and Mike were privileged to work under Alice for three local history festivals. I am sure that others in Hethe who helped with the festivals will want to thank Alice for her inspiration and hard work in planning and running these events for the community.
I have been able to support Alice this year in doing some administrative work for the Lighthouse week for local children. It will be a challenge to manage and run this event in the future, but we do have Alice’s example to spur us on!

There was a farewell service for Alice on Sunday 10th August, starting at 11.00am in Finmere Church, with a ‘Bring and Share’ picnic to follow at Finmere Village Hall/Playing Field.
Note that the Bicester to Buckingham road will be closed in Newton Purcell this weekend.
