Good morning
A Happy New Year to you and your residents.
Over the past few years, so many people have made so many donations and raised a lot of money for the new healthcare facility in Brackley, and the trustees are truly grateful. This giving continues, and we are very careful guardians of your money.
Sadly, it is not as easy to spend it as we would have hoped. The NHS does move rather slowly as the services at Brackley, there for the benefit not only of the town but also for many surrounding villages, evolve. The x-ray machine – our initial and principal target – has yet to brought into action; there are connectivity issues as well as resourcing ones, and these latter are not just financial as there is a recognised shortage nationwide of radiographers. We will get there.
There are, however, some good news stories. During 2023 the charity bought a wheelchair-accessible vehicle which the occupational therapists who work with the patients in the intermediate care beds on the second floor have found of great benefit; the car is clearly marked “funded by the community”. Additionally, we have gradually been purchasing items of equipment which help with the rehabilitation of those patients. I have attached a couple of items – some of you may have seen one of them in the Banbury Guardian recently – and would be more than happy for them to be displayed on your village website or circulated via your village newsletter if you would like to share this good news.
We are responsive to requests from the NHS and continue with our mantra that we wish to accelerate and enhance the NHS provision within our community.
