STARC started life as the NoExpressway Group, against which they successfully campaigned. However the ongoing threat of the OxCam Arc remains a significant issue. Although the government has backtracked somewhat the idea is still being vigorously promoted by Bidwells Radical Capital ideas (see https://radical.bidwells.co.uk to really frighten yourself). The CBRE website (another property conglomerate) talks of the ‘biggest new city area in the UK’ with I million new homes.
STARC is mounting a campaign to oust the current members of the Arc Leaders Group, a body still actively promoting the project. Whilst we are under no illusions that the loss of several members of the group will equate to death of the project, it will have a major impact at many levels.
