Just wanted to give you an update on the cup game Ardley United U15 played yesterday, 30 January.
It was the 2nd round of the cup and it was against top of the table Milton United. Previously we lost twice before and closing the gap each time. Ardley United was by far the better team and having a majority of the shots but couldn’t finish those critical chances. Unfortunately Milton United took all three of there chances and scored. The game finished 1-3 to Milton United.
The boys have done myself and Darren proud this season going form strength to strength in there first season.
We look forward to next season and many more home games Hethe.

Ardley United 2-5 Bure Park FC
Ardley United faced Bure Park on a chilly morning. Ardley United were hoping for another win following a previous win.
Ardley kicked off the match with high hopes of a win. Bure Park took the ball off Ardley and went up the pitch and scored within two minutes. It was looking like one of those long games today for Ardley due to conceding very early in the game. Heads from the Ardley players dropped for a bit but they found some momentum and scored from Sam with a great strike. Game level now and Ardley’s heads were up again.
Bure Park had an amazing chance in the fifteenth minute to take the lead but the ball was cleared off the line and Ollie collected the ball to deny a goal scoring opportunity, Ardley were very lucky here. There were shouts that the ball crossed the line by Bure Park players but the referee didn’t agree with them.
The Ardley defence have had a lot of work to do so far with everyone understanding that they will have a lot of work to do today.
Owen had a few chances in the first half but none were burried, just wide of the post. Some great efforts by him with long range and up close shots.
Ollie has been very busy this half, with a lot of shots at him but only one passing him so far.
However, Bure Park took the lead again in the twenty-seventh minute. A throw in to Bure Park but Ardley couldn’t get a head to it. The attacker went past the defender and put it past Ollie. An Ardley player and Bure Park player went down injured in the build up to the goal due to a clash of boots. Ardley players annoyed after conceding again with heads dropping again, with Ollie encouraging his team to keep heads high.
A header from Sam just went wide, just one of those days where nothing goes in the net.
Bure Park then scored again to extend their lead, 3-1 now. Ardley defence looked tired and are starting to lose momentum. Referee blew his whistle for halftime with the scoreline 3-1, Ardley needto get a goal to try and get something from the game.
Teams came out for the second half with Ardley looking like the better side, but no goal still to try and get back into the game.
There was a break in play with a Bure Park player that went down injured. Play was stopped for a few minutes. This time allowed the Ardley players to talk to eachother and have a plan.
There wasn’t a lot of action so far in the second half with both teams cancelling out eachothers attacks. Bure Park had a golden chance to extend their lead by even more with a throughball to their attackers, but the player miskicked the ball and went out for a goal kick, Ardley got very lucky there.
The referee’s decisions have gone against Ardley today with a lot of free kicks awarded to Bure Park for very little contact.
Bure Park scored another goal in the sixty-ninth minute to make the scoreline now 4-1. Ardley had a gap in their defence and Bure Park capitalised on this. Ardley we’re looking very tired now and weren’t playing how they were like at the start of the second half.
Ardley managed to score again in the eighth-first minute from Kodie with a good shot that went just past the keeper. If only Ardley could have scored earlier in the game, they may of found a few more and managed to get a point.
Bure Park took the kick off and went through the entire Ardley team and scored another goal, now 5-2. Ardley didn’t expect this to happen and were not expecting one final attack from Bure Park.
The referee reached for his whistle and blew for full time with the score of 5-2 to Bure Park FC. Ardley were not at the best today and have learnt a lot going into their next game.
After a heavy defeat, Adam awarded his man of the match to Riley who was playing at right back for the first time. Riley had an excellent second half after coming off the bench, nothing got past him and was a well earned man of the match.
After the game I spoke to Darren and he told me “ Result a side we fought hard on a difficult pitch. Chances were there for both sides and the difference being they put there’s away. It’s as simple as that. Not much between the 2 teams but we learn and we move on. Big game next week in the cup, at home once again against top of the table Milton United, and the lads will be ready”.
