Mixbury History Group are giving people in Hethe an opportunity to take part in an archaeological dig that they are planning in Mixbury next year. They are at the second stage of seeking a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to employ an archaeology company to undertake investigations at what they see as “key sites” in the parish. If the bid is successful, the work will take place in late May/early June next year. There will be a significant community engagement programme running in parallel with the geophysics and digs. One site in particular, at Fulwell, will provide the opportunity for people to:
• observe/take part in the geophysics surveys
• take part in the dig
• help clean any “finds”
• attend briefing and de-briefing presentations by the archaeologists
If you are interested please let Mike know soonest at mgreen@hethe.org.
