From Marak & Steve:
As you all know we are in very uncertain times and it is becoming very scary for some as we now go into lockdown.
For those of you who know Marak you will know from a show that was performed at St Edmund & St George Church last November by his group StAges that music and theatre is his passion.
Marak also has two other passions besides music – gardening and a sense of community. He feels that the two go hand in hand as we all appreciate music of different sorts and love to see beautiful things especially plants, flowers and gardens.
Marak continues:
This leads me to my next challenge for everyone in Hethe – it’s to make the most of our isolation by using our spare time in the garden. It’s good for the following:
- It gets you into the fresh air
- It’s a good form of exercise
- It follows government guidelines on social distancing
- It is a great way to spend time with your self isolating family (in the same house) and create something together
- The end result will make the village look more beautiful than it already does
For those who can afford it, Preston Bissett garden centre has a delivery service, but I think that we could do one better.
Plant Swap
I’m sure time spent in the garden may mean pulling some unwanted plants up. Usually we would either plant them elsewhere or throw them away. If we put them outside in our front gardens then we can allow other people to take them or post on here any plants or shrubs that you may be looking for to add to your garden.
Not only does this have a great impact on our gardens, it saves money, allowing us to use funds for more important things (like maybe buying extra bits for those that need it).
When all of this uncertain time has passed we could then invite the people we had the plants from to our gardens so they can see how this has transformed our garden. This is community at it’s best.
So come on Hethe, lets do this and create the best looking village and come together as a community. This will be good for moral and won’t just be for now but for the future to come.
You will be surprised by the neighbours you don’t know. We are in this together and need to do what generations before us have done for years and stick together.
