Message from Emma Faulkner, Principal Officer – Scrutiny and Democratic Lead, Democratic and Elections Team, Law and Governance, Cherwell District Council
I am pleased to confirm that the link to book nomination appointments is now available via the Cherwell District Council website. Please feel free to forward this information to existing Parish Councillors looking to re-stand, and publicise it via Parish websites/newsletters/social media.
A 15-minute appointment is enough time for two papers to be submitted. In this instance, the best way to book your appointment is via the link. The step-by-step instructions for making a booking online are attached for information.
As detailed at the briefing, we would not recommend you as Clerk delivering completed nominations for your Parish. However, if you do find yourself in this situation and you have more than two papers to submit, please contact our team via email to this address, or by telephone on 01295 221534, so we can book out the appropriate amount of time.
Some final reminders regarding the nomination period:
- Tuesday 31 March to Thursday 9 April (not Good Friday 3 April or Easter Monday 6 April)
- The first appointment available each day is 10am, and the last one is 3:45pm
- Candidates do not have to deliver papers themselves, someone else can do it on their behalf
- All papers must be hand delivered to our offices at Castle Quay shopping centre
- Anyone wishing to continue as a parish councillor must complete a nomination form. If they don’t complete a form, their term of office will end on Monday 11 May
As ever if you have any questions or queries regarding the election period, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Emma
