We now have a WhatsApp Group to get a bit more organised about offering and requesting lifts! The idea is twofold: firstly to reduce duplicated car journeys and the number of vehicles needing parking spaces, and secondly to ensure that people who are without transport don’t get left out when there is something happening on our patch.
You will need to have a Mobile Phone with WhatsApp installed in order to use the Group. You can also install WhatsApp on a PC. Use the Group to invite people to join you if you are travelling to a church service, meeting or event, or any place where you can accommodate a lift share. Use the Group to enquire whether someone is travelling to a church service, meeting or event, or elsewhere (e.g. a trip locally which the Bus can’t cover) and could give you a lift.
At present, Flora Skinner, Ali Miller and the Revd Alice are in the Group and you will need to contact them to add you. After that, you can send and receive messages to the other members of the Group, and you can also add other people. Your name will appear only on your own messages to the Group.
The more people are in the Group, the better the prospects of sharing lifts, of being more inclusive, and of being more responsible in our individual travel plans.
This is an experiment which hopefully will bear good fruit …
